Field Maintenance is a Vital Part of our program.  We are lucky enough to have a number of locations which we are able to host both games and practices.  We must, however, maintain the fields and equipment at these various locations.  As a field Maintenance Volunteer, you would be asked to do the following

  • Assist with prepping the Fields for the season (moving goals, attaching nets etc)
  • Walk off the fields for safety, and repair any minor issues such as mole damage or gravel.
  • Help to paint the fields at Game Locations (Amana, Brooklyn, Ladora)
  • Repaint fields prior to game day so lines are clearly visible
  • Assist with removing nets and storing goals and equipment at the end of the season
  • Assist with field preparations for Soccer Slam Tournament.

The time commitment for the entire year is usually as follows...

  • 8 hours for one person to paint fields at one location for the first time during the season (This time is greatly reduced with additional bodies.  A team of 3 can often get everything done in about 4 hours.  This must be done once each season (Fall and Spring).
  • 2 hours to repaint fields during the week before they are used for games (usually 2-3 times per location)
  • 4-6 hours in early spring to attach nets, and move goals into place.
  • 30 minutes each game Saturday Morning to check fields, assist with corner flags, and assist with trash can placement, and similarly 30 minutes each game Saturday Afternoon to pick up corner flags and collect trash cans.
  • 2-3 Hours after the fall season to remove and store nets, and to store goals for winter
  • Potentially some additional time for the Soccer Slam Area Tournament in Middle Amana.

Ideally, we like to have 4-5 people covering this per game location.  This way their is never any All Day time commitments, and the job is extremely easy.  If one person has a conflict one week, someone else is able to step up and cover them.  This is the ideal volunteer job for that parent with the less structured schedule, that cannot commit to coaching on a regular basis.  No special knowledge or abilities are required.

If you are interested in assisting with field maintenance please contact the regional commissioner at [email protected] for more information or to sign up.
